Stone Restoration & Lime Mortar Repointing
We carry out conservation-led stone restoration and lime mortar repointing to protect and extend the life of traditional buildings. Our work focuses on removing inappropriate cement materials, cleaning with DOFF cleaning and thematech, addressing water ingress, and reinstating breathable lime-based solutions that respect the original fabric of the structure. Restoration projects often include chimneys, gables, walls, and architectural details, which are assessed as part of the wider building performance.

Bespoke Stone Finial Restoration — Tulliallan Church, Kincardine
This project involved the restoration of historic ball finials located at the top of the electricity conductors at Tulliallan Church in Kincardine. The finials were carefully cut and shaped by hand in our yard before being transported and precisely installed on site. The completed installation restored these distinctive architectural features while ensuring long-term durability and stability.
Stone Cladding to Extension — Dollar
This project involved cladding a garage and house extension using reclaimed sandstone. The stone was backed off to 120 mm to allow for a cavity construction, with rubble corners formed to suit the build. Ashlar stone was selected for the sills and lintels, with splays cut by hand to achieve clean, well-defined detailing. Once installed, the stonework was carefully cleaned and pointed throughout using traditional lime mortars. The completed works delivered a solid, breathable, and visually cohesive extension that integrated seamlessly with the existing property.
